Tumescent Liposuction

Tumescent Liposuction is a painless form of Liposuction performed with local anesthesia. While tumescent liposuction gives the same benefit as traditional liposuction, it is performed in the office.  It does not require the use of a hospital or outpatient surgery facility, nor does it require the use of general anesthesia. The tumescent method allows the surgeon to safely and efficiently remove excess fat with little discomfort, no significant blood loss, very rapid healing and improved cosmetic results. Tumescent Liposuction removed small areas of excess fat from those stubborn, hard-to-lose areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, hips, inner thighs, upper back, upper arms, neck and jowls. By using small instruments, there is less risk of defects such as lumpiness or grooving associated with the more traditional technique. Patients often return to work the next day following this procedure.

Mesotherapy

Tiny amounts of medications, vitamins and homeopathic ingredients are injected into the skin or layers of tissue just beneath the skin. The goals of treatment determine the type of injections and medicines used. For example, treatment of cellulite is with a particular formula of medications that is entirely different from that used to dissolve fat.

Common Questions

What is the difference between liposuction and mesotherapy?
Unlike liposuction, mesotherapy does not require general anesthesia, the wearing of compressive garments or a long, painful recovery. Many liposuction patients find that they have lopsided, uneven results. Mesotherapy provides a smoother, more natural look.

Does it treat Cellulite?
Cellulite is a more complex condition than fat. Dieting and exercise are not effective in reduction of cellulite since they do not address its causes. The dimpling and lumpiness of cellulite are caused by loss of elasticity in the connective tissue, local water retention and the swelling of fat cells. Mesotherapy specifically attacks the causes of cellulite breaking up the fibrous strands in the tissue and improving local lymphatic drainage.

Does the treatment hurt?
Most mesotherapy patients claim that the procedure is quite comfortable, although some do prefer an anesthetic cream applied prior to treatment. Treatment sessions are typically 30 - 45 minutes long and are performed 1 to 4 weeks apart. There is no recovery period and no need to wear compressive garments as with liposuction.

How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments is variable and dependent on treatment goals. For fat reduction and body sculpting, 5 to 10 treatments are typically performed. Cellulite reduction usually requires 10 to 15 treatments.

How does mesotherapy work?
Certain medications used cause the fat cells to release their contents and others block the fat cell receptors from taking in new fat. The released fat is removed naturally from the body through lymphatic drainage.

Who should get mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy will help reduce cellulite and fat in targeted areas on patients of all body types and weight. It will not make an obese person thin. A nutritionally sound diet and exercise will enhance the lipolytic state and provide optimum results.
